March Madness in Happy Valley: State Basketball Championships

The Bulldogs win the 5th Gold 2023 State Championship

State College, PA | Feb. 29, 2024 — Over the weekends of March 15-17 (Girls) and March 22-24 (Boys), the top teams in the state will converge in State College for the 6th Annual Pennsylvania Middle School Basketball Championships.

The Championship caters to single school, community, and township teams, providing thrilling competition for boys and girls spanning grades 4 to 8. Each participating team is guaranteed a minimum of four games, with some teams slated to play five.

After a rigorous regular season competing against local teams, this championship offers a unique opportunity for teams to face off against fresh opponents from all across the state, with more than 95% of teams traveling from out of town.

Last year’s success brought in over 250 teams across the state of Pennsylvania.

Bradley Laubacher, Vice President of State Basketball, expresses his excitement. “We love hosting this event in Happy Valley. This area is not only the perfect mid-way point between our two main cities that have teams hailing from (Pittsburgh and Philly) but it’s also a beautiful area and an awesome community,” Laubacher said.

“On top of all that, State College is home to some of the premier facilities where we host events across the entire country, and we greatly enjoy and appreciate the people who help work our tournament each year!”

The competition will unfold in state-of-the-art, multi-court facilities, including C3 Sports, Nittany Valley Sports Centre, and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy.

Friday and Saturday will feature exhilarating pool play, building anticipation for the electrifying semi-finals and Championship games on Sunday.

Games will kick off as early as 5 p.m. on Friday and wrap up by 4:30 on Sunday evening.
