After the resounding success of the inaugural event in 2023, IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania Happy Valley returns on June 30, 2024.

Come experience the rich history and endless adventure that awaits. The IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania Happy Valley consists of a 1.2-mile swim in Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir at Bald Eagle State Park, a scenic 56-mile bike ride through the beautiful rolling hills of Centre and Clinton Counties, culminating with a 13.1-mile run on the campus of Penn State University including a unique finish line experience for athletes inside Beaver Stadium, home to the Penn State University Nittany Lions football team.

The IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania Happy Valley is a truly unique spectacle that unites every aspect of our community. Happy Valley is a proud host to the IM Local program, a collaborative effort that brings together local businesses, services, and community partners, all working together to provide special benefits to both participating athletes and volunteers.

CHAMPIONING IMPACT

In 2023, the IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania Happy Valley attracted a remarkable participation of over 2,400 athletes hailing from 42 U.S. states and 8 countries. This, along with other contributing factors, enabled the event to generate more than $4.4 million for the local economy.

These impressive inaugural benchmarks were recognized within the industry, with the event being honored by Sports Destination Management as one of their 2023 Champions of Economic Impact.

Happy Valley IRONMAN Brings $4.4 million in Economic Impact

The economic impact included $3.09 million in spending by visitors and $1.35 million that was spent between businesses. HVSEA said the triathlon supported more than 1,680 jobs, which translates to 35 full-time equivalent employees.

“Economic success” can now be added to the list of descriptions for the inaugural IRONMAN® 70.3® Pennsylvania Happy Valley triathlon. The Happy Valley Sports & Entertainment Alliance (HVSEA) today reported that the event generated more than $4.4 million for the local economy, resulting in an estimated 7,170 room nights over the course of the three to four nights of the July 2 competition.
