What is a criterium?
A criterium (or "crit") is a fast-paced road race held on a short, closed-loop course, typically in urban settings. Riders complete multiple laps around the circuit, which features sharp corners and short straights, making for an exciting and spectator-friendly event. Criteriums are usually 30-60 minutes long, requiring quick acceleration, tactical positioning, and sharp cornering skills. The high-speed nature of the race, combined with strategic teamwork, makes criteriums one of the most thrilling formats in competitive cycling.
