Black Leaders Detroit Announces Ambitious 2025 Ride for Equity: Road to Reparations, A Journey from Black Wall Street To Wall Street

Detroit, MI — Black Leaders Detroit is dedicated to promoting equity through community action and is excited to announce its most ambitious initiative yet: the 2025 Ride For Equity. This groundbreaking thirty-five-day cross-country bike ride will launch on May 31, 2025, starting at Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and concluding at Wall Street in New York City near Independence Day.

Since 2020, Black Leaders Detroit has organized an annual 377-mile bike ride from Detroit to the Mackinac Policy Conference, raising awareness about the barriers entrepreneurs of African descent face in accessing capital. Last year, over 250 participants joined our six-mile kickoff event, with 15 dedicated riders tackling one or more full days of the journey.

The upcoming Ride For Equity aims to raise national awareness and inspire action to close the racial capital gap. Throughout the ride, we will host "Speak For Yourself" forums in key cities along the route. These forums are vital community discussions that allow participants to share insights, learn from one another, and envision a future of unity and economic empowerment. Our previous forums have proven instrumental in building bridges and fostering understanding across diverse communities.

We invite the media to feature the 2025 Ride For Equity, highlighting the leadership participating in the ride, our dedicated volunteers, and the stories of those we meet along the journey.

More details about the 2025 Ride For Equity can be found at ride4equity.org.

Together, let's embark on this transformative journey towards equity and empowerment.
