Centre Film Festival Celebrates 5 Years of Bringing Global Films to Local Audiences

Nov. 1, 2023 by Chet Irvin (The Daily Collegian) The Centre Film Festival brought Penn State students, faculty and community sponsors together to celebrate films in four different locations over seven days.

Pearl Gluck, an associate professor of film production in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, co-founded the film festival at the Rowland Theatre in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania five years ago.

Since then, Gluck has expanded the programming to allow for more diversity of voices, more opportunities for young or aspiring filmmakers and more access for Penn State students.

Gluck said she’s trying to make this a “destination festival” by stretching the screening schedule to include more films and “make it even harder for people to choose what to see.”
