Volunteers For a Cause: Nittany Valley Half-Marathon returns for 40th Year

STATE COLLEGE, PA - On December 8, the Nittany Valley Half-Marathon returns to Happy Valley inviting runners to join for another year of racing and support of a great cause.

The Nittany Valley Half-Marathon, formerly a Nittany Valley Running Club Race, proudly supports Centre Volunteers in Medicine, a free clinic that offers essential medical and dental care to residents of Centre County. Proceeds from the event will help to fund Centre Volunteers in Medicine’s mission of providing care to those in need.

This year’s race will begin at 10 AM beginning and finishing at Snider Ag Arena, where runners will embark on a scenic 13.1-mile course through State College’s beautiful scenery and rolling hills. Participants have four hours to complete the course, making it accessible to runners of all levels. This event has been a beloved tradition since its start in 1984, when it began as a half-marathon addition to the Nittany Valley Marathon. The half-marathon has since grown now drawing in participants from all over Pennsylvania and the east coast for a memorable race-day experience.

The Nittany Valley Half-Marathon is currently seeking volunteers for the 2024 event! Opportunities available include course marshals, water station attendants, and general event support. Volunteers have the opportunity to encourage runners up close, bring signs or music, and create a fun, spirited atmosphere. Interested in volunteering? Sign up below and join us for an unforgettable day in the heart of Happy Valley.
