The Wailers headline ‘A Bob Marley Celebration’ at Tussey Mountain Amphitheatre

State College, PA, March 21 — Rich Engler presents a “Bob Marley Celebration” starring the legendary Wailers with special guest star Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root Uprooted Trio at the beautiful Tussey Mountain Amphitheatre in Boalsburg, PA on Sunday, June 23. The concert begins at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m.

The concert officially kicks off the new Happy Valley Music Series at Tussey Mountain, presented in part by The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau.

“We are thrilled to work with Rich Engler in presenting a fantastic line up of monthly concerts, starting off strong with The Wailers and Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root Uprooted Trio,” said Fritz Smith, HVAB President and CEO. “With Bob Marley’s continued popularity and the success of the film One Love as a top-grossing music biopic, combined with the scenic Tussey Mountain outdoor venue, we expect great interest in and enthusiasm for the inaugural concert.”

Tussey Mountain Owner Josh Lincoln said from skiing and go-karts to bike races and community events, Tussey Mountain is a premier entertainment destination in Happy Valley.

“We are committed to offering highly enjoyable outdoor recreation all year long, and believe our area is in need of more open-air concerts,” he said.

“We are excited to work with Rich Engler and The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau in bringing nationally touring bands back to our amphitheater for stand-alone shows. With concerts that span a variety of genres, there truly will be something for everyone at Tussey Mountain Amphitheater this spring, summer, and fall.”

The Wailers are a rare breed of musicians who have earned their place in the annals of music history. Their culture-defining music, embodying the spirit of the 70s reggae movement, has left an indelible mark on the industry.

Concert goers will experience the magic of their timeless classics and incredible cuts from Bob Marley’s vast repertoire in a set that is truly unforgettable. Under the guidance of Aston Barrett Jr., son of the legendary “Family man,” The Wailers continue to preserve the legacy of their iconic sound.

The Wailers will be performing such classic hits at Three Little Birds, Could You Be Loved, One Love, Redemption Song, No Women No Cry and many others.

Adding to the excitement of the kick-off concert, attendees can also view Bob Marley memorabilia from Bob’s last concert at the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh in 1980. The exhibit includes many photographs and autograph items from Bob Marley, plus other memorabilia, all from the Rich Engler private collection.

Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root Uprooted Trio will take the stage first.

It was more than 30 years ago that Glabicki dropped out of college to start a band. At that time, he had no idea what he was going to do or how to get there. Glabicki spent two years learning how to write songs and create a vision. Rusted Root was then born. The multi-platinum band out of Pittsburgh evolved around front-man Michael Glabicki’s distinct sound and grew into a musical entity that has thrived in a non-genre specific category all its own. Rusted Root built their career around dramatic performances; their polyrhythmic, multicultural rock-and-soul picked up fans like a junkyard magnet as they swept across the nation on tour.

Smith said upcoming Happy Valley Music Series concerts will continue the expected buzz generated by The Wailers and Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root Uprooted Trio.

“Rich has secured an impressive lineup of rock and soft rock legends that are still making music today,” he said. “The concert series will complement the quality live performance and entertainment options currently available in the county and region and will serve as a reason for visitors to extend their weekend stay in or begin a weekday trip to Happy Valley.”

Tickets for The Wailers/Rusted Root Uprooted Trio are $40 (plus service charge) for general admission, with a limited number of $50 (plus service charge) tickets that ensure upfront viewing. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29 at www.iTickets.com or by phone at 800 965-9324.

“We appreciate the collaboration that went into making this concert and the entire series a reality,” Smith said. “We look forward to a great turnout on June 23.”
