Fueling the Finish Line: Honoring Our IRONMAN 70.3 PA HV Volunteers

STATE COLLEGE, PA – Aug. 20, 2024 – The IRONMAN 70.3 PA HV has not only brought tremendous success to Happy Valley by attracting guests from near and far, but it has also strengthened the community. Each year, 1,000 dedicated volunteers come together, embodying the spirit of the race by contributing their time, energy, and positivity. Without their support, the event simply wouldn’t be possible.

On August 6, 2024, these volunteers were celebrated at the second annual IRONMAN 70.3 PA HV Volunteer Appreciation Night, hosted at Axemann Brewery. The evening was a true reflection of community spirit, featuring delicious food from Brown Dog Catering, fantastic brews from Axemann, and heartwarming memories shared by all. Volunteer Director Juliandra Jackson expressed her deep gratitude, highlighting the outstanding efforts of this year’s Environmental Team. The night also included special recognition for standout contributions, with Tricia Flynn named Volunteer of the Year and Lisa Wandel honored as Volunteer Captain of the Year.

Volunteering is a selfless act that deserves endless gratitude. To recognize the efforts of those involved, the IRONMAN Foundation creates positive, tangible change in race communities through grant funding and volunteerism. This year, the foundation awarded $15,000 in grants to local groups. When groups apply to volunteer, they receive a portion of the grant funding based on the number of volunteers, hours contributed, and the impact of their efforts. Below are the groups receiving grant funding from this year’s race:
