Happy Valley recognized in 2024 Ironman Athletes’ Choice Awards
By Danielle Blake STATE COLLEGE, PA— Happy Valley’s Ironman 70.3 race has earned national recognition, ranking third in Overall Satisfaction among all North American races in the 2024 Ironman Athletes’ Choice Awards.
Chosen based on feedback from nearly 48,000 athletes worldwide, the awards celebrate the most beloved Ironman events across various categories including Best Swim, Bike, and Run. Happy Valley stood out for its beautiful scenery, friendly community, and mix of outdoor fun and small-town feel.
Described by the Ironman Group as “the most beautiful countryside in Pennsylvania,” the area offers quick access to hiking trails, historic towns like Bellefonte and Boalsburg, and the energy of Penn State.
With nearly 200,000 participants in the 2024 season, Ironman continues to grow, especially among younger athletes. The 30–34 age group saw the most entries, and races like Happy Valley are attracting more competitors traveling over 500 miles to take part.
The 2025 Ironman 70.3 Happy Valley returns on Sunday, June 15.
