Black Leaders Detroit Announces Ambitious 2025 Ride for Equity: Road to Reparations, A Journey from Black Wall Street To Wall Street

Black Leaders Detroit is dedicated to promoting equity through community action and is excited to announce its most ambitious initiative yet: the 2025 Ride For Equity. This groundbreaking thirty-five-day cross-country bike ride will launch on May 31, 2025, starting at Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and concluding at Wall Street in New York City near Independence Day. They will be in State College, PA on June 26, 2025, and leaving for their journey to Wall Street in New York City on June 28, 2025.

“I miss Happy Valley!” said Olympian and former Penn State gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik during his SPA Day interview at the HUB Robeson Center at Penn State University. He spoke with his former gymnastics coach, Randy Jepson, about his time in State College. “I came here and immediately fell in love with the campus,” Stephen said, sharing fond memories of his time in Happy Valley. He explained that he wanted to attend the college that would make him the best pommel horse gymnast, adding, “And that’s how I made my decision to come here.”

Mountainback race announces donation to Centre Region Down Syndrome Society 

Organizers of the 25th Tussey Mountainback, a regional footrace event held in Central Pennsylvania’s Rothrock State Forest, will announce the event’s 2024 fundraising total in support of this year’s beneficiary, the Centre Region Down Syndrome Society, on Dec. 10. The donation will be presented at the meeting of the Nittany Valley Running Club at Hi-Way Pizza Pub, 1301 W. College Ave., State College, PA. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
