Based on a 2022 study commissioned by the Happy Valley Sports & Entertainment Alliance (HVSEA), the average Penn State football home game generated about $12 million regionally from weekend visitor spending. That region isn’t simply limited to Happy Valley either, but within about an hour’s drive of Beaver Stadium — meaning most, but not all, of the impact remains in Centre County.

The Tussey Mountainback has been selected by USA Track & Field to host the 2024 USA 50 Mile Road Championships, which are expected to draw elite distance runners from around the country to run the Mountainback’s signature 50-mile loop in Central Pennsylvania’s Rothrock State Forest.

Taunton’s team will offer innovative curriculum that immerses students with hands-on experience, allowing them to step directly into the role as an official. The program has achieved notable success since its inception in Massachusetts and eagerly anticipates extending this success to Pennsylvania.

In 2023, the 13 members of PA Sports combined to host/support more than 460 events generating $480 million in estimated economic impact to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

A long-standing staple in the local sports community is set to return at the close of 2023. Teams from far and wide will converge on Happy Valley to compete in the 42nd Hockey Valley Invitational, scheduled to take place from December 27-31, 2023, at Pegula Ice Arena on the campus of Penn State University.

Kick off your New Year on an active note and bid farewell to those post-holiday blues! The third annual “Dinking in the New Year” Pickleball Tournament will take place January 13-14, 2024.

Happy Valley has proudly been selected as one of the host locations, with up to 48 teams converging on the region for a chance to secure a coveted spot at the 2024 NIT.
